A Message From The Principal

Welcome parents to the month of May. Our school year is nearly over with only about 30 days left in school for the 2013-2014 school year. While it may seem like a time for relaxing before we head into the summer, there is still a lot of work to do this year at Briggs School. We are currently in the middle of the new Smarter Balanced Testing that is replacing the old STAR Test. Briggs will be continuing to test through the first two weeks of May, so please make sure your students are at school on a daily basis, well rested, well fed, and ready to learn.

We have several events going on as we head into the end of the school year that we would love for families to attend. These include:

Teacher Appreciation Week May 5-May 9

7th and 8th grade field trips to Ormond Beach

8th grade field trip to IMAX and California Science Center in Los Angeles on May 14th

Flag football at Briggs School against Mupu School on May 15th 3:00pm

Classified Staff Appreciation Week May 19th-23rd

After School Program Registration on May 22nd

Briggs Spring Concert on May 27th

Briggs Principal's Picnic on June 6th

Briggs Penny Carnival on June 10th

We will also be having a Summer Academy for students this summer, so please watch out for information about that program which will be offered to some of our students and families.

As a reminder, please don't wait until final reports come out to learn more about how your student is doing at school, as right now is the time to be involved with your child and their education. Some of the ways you can become involved in the education at Briggs School include:

  • Accessing your child's grades at https://briggsdistrict.vcoe.org/parentconnect
  • Attending school board meetings on the second Wednesday of each month at Olivelands School
  • Becoming a part of our Parent Fundraising Organization (PFO)
  • Becoming a member of our School Site Council (SSC)
  • Attending Migrant Education meetings
  • Attending DELAC meetings
  • Attending Title 1 meetings
  • Contacting your child's teacher to find out about helping in the classroom or how to help at home
  • Or just dropping by the office at Briggs School
